Overview:

Join the team at McCaw Lewis for a practical discussion on key issues arising for employers – how do we be good employers and look after our team; but get the job done well at the same time?

Work through issues that arise as part of the following key topics:

Our Facilitators:

Renika Siciliano, Director (Waikato – Maniapoto)

With a background in Treaty settlement matters and Māori/iwi governance, Renika co-leads the firm’s Māori Legal Team and leads its Workplace Law Team.  She has worked with a range of clients on employment matters having represented clients in mediations, advising clients in relation to Employment Relations Authority and Employment Court matters and advising generally on personal grievances, health and safety matters and other disputes.  She has drafted various employment documents and assisted in setting up contract and employment arrangements for various entities, including post settlement governance entities, Rūnanga and other iwi entities. Her focus across all employment matters is on manaakitanga in the workplace as a basis for good process and relationships.  She has advised clients on restructures, including redundancies and commercial transfers and is a regular presenter at numerous EMA Conferences and in other forums.

Jerome Burgess, Associate (Samoa)

Jerome works with clients across various employment matters, advising both employers and employees on key documents critical to the employment relationship and working through issues/disputes as they arise.  He has represented clients in mediations and advised on personal grievances, procedural matters and restructuring processes.  He works with businesses on the immigration matters associated with the workplace, including Immigration New Zealand’s visa requirements.  As well as workplace matters, Jerome advises clients in the Waitangi Tribunal space across a range of kaupapa.  He continues to play a key role in McCaw Lewis’ Pasifika initiatives to further develop our working relationship with the Pacific Island community.  Jerome is also a member of the J.Reuben Clark Law Society.
